Rave looked back, following the woman. They walked for quite some time. "You have very nice friends..." the woman commented. "Huh? Oh, yea." "I'm curious. Why are you with an elf? Humans are never with elves..." "What do you mean?" Rave asked. "They should never be with elves..." the woman continued. "The war is over. Yes, there's still hatred, but elves and humans. There's no more slavery..." Rave said, confused. The woman sighed. "Perhaps. But the Keepers will not aprove." Rave stopped. "What do you mean... by the Keepers?" Rave asked. That was what Hama had said. That she was a Keeper now... The woman looked at Rave. She didn't answer. "We're here, dear." Rave looked around. She hadn't realized that the setting had changed. They were in a... large cave of sorts. In the middle was a large pond of black water. "Where have you taken me?" Rave asked, scared, backing away. The woman put her bony fingers around Rave's shoulders. "Welcome to the Waters of the Xith... We've been waiting for you..." she said, clamping a hand around Rave's mouth before she could take in a breath.
Rave was plunged into freezing darkness, which calmed her frantic limbs and her beating heart. Her lungs filled with liquid, as her limp body drifted. She was only slightly aware of the woman humming softly to herself, as she closed the stone lid across. She felt something pull her, immerse her even more. Everything was so peaceful and silent, like a tomb. The world was wonderfully disorienting. She floated in dark oblivion, in conscious sleep.

"She's away long." Joah noted. "They both are." Vempre nodded and came up from his chair, he walked over to Joah. "Let's go and get them then?" He asked, knowing it was their plan. "You know which way they went?" Joah asked, standing up as well. Vempre didn't know, but he guessed. "This way." He said, hoping to be right. Joah didn't seem to notice his wild guess. "I hope nothing's wrong!" "I hope we don't leave for nothing..."

Joah and Vempre saw the woman in the kitchen. Joah frowned. "I thought you were with Rave?" he asked. "Oh, I just showed her to her resting place..." the woman said with a smile. "She was really tired... Would you like something to eat before you go to bed?" the woman asked, offering them something that was on the hearth. Vempre managed to shake his head. "No... thanks..." Vempre said, clearly confused. Joah pulled him out into the hall. "I think I just remembered!" he whispered. "What? Huh?" he asked. "The woman. She's a truth teller! I learned about them long ago! In the early years of Herre Lander, there was a large group of people who terrorized the land. There was a war. For punishment, everyone who wasn't executed had a curse put upon them. They were to forever tell the truth, them and their children...." "So, she's good then?" Vempre said, still not fully understanding. "I don't know. But I just don't have a good feeling about this one." "She has to tell the truth, right? Why don't we just ask her?" Vempre said, logically. "There's a catch. She can twist the truth. Tell half-truths..." he said, thinking.

Vempre hated it now. "Can things turn out more difficult?" He asked, at which Joah shook his head. "Lets just go and look for Rave, okay?" Joah sighed and nodded, looking into the kitchen hoping that the old woman wouldn't notice them leaving. "Maybe it's better if we stay?" Vempre pulled Joah against him, looking amazed and angry. "I don't trust this! I want Rave to be save, we're going to find her!" He said, seriously. A side of him that Joah had never seen there, worried.

(this idea is sorta related to a movie I saw a while ago/a book... hehe)
Rave opened her eyes. She was in a field. Everything had a strange light. Even the sky. Things seemed so... happy, yet Rave could just feel a darkness on the outskirts of the sun. "Hello?" Rave asked. She walked through the swaying grasses and flowers. They felt so soft. She could hear humming. It was Hama. She knew that immediately. Hama usually hummed to herself when she thought no one was listening. Rave started running. "Hama!" She saw a figure stand. Hama's face came into view. Something was different. More different than usual. Hama still wore the strange black dress and cloak with silver and red, but it was her face. She was thinner, yet she didn't look weak or sick. Hama's gaunt face showed brillant black eyes. Gone were the lush green irises. "You returned..." Hama said, with a strange smile. Rave frowned. "I have no control over this." "But you do..." Hama said, moving past Rave. "It is true that you're here, but it was because you wanted to return. So you have..." Hama said. "It's dangerous. Too dangerous..." Hama said, turning on Rave suddenly. "You can't come. In your dreams or in life; you can't. If they found out..." "They?" "Never mind..." Hama said, shortly. "You wouldn't understand. Besides..." "Besides what? Hama, please. You're trapped, right? Well I'm coming..." Rave protested. Hama sighed, frustrated. "Sure, I don't entirely want this life, but I have no choice...." "Wasn't it you who told me that you always have a choice?" "Rave! Please!" Hama hissed. Rave jumped back, startled. Hama was acting so weird. "You told me that elves and humans could never be together," Rave said, changing the topic. "That's correct. There is a reason that they've been at war..." Rave noticed that she didn't say 'we' but 'they'. Was she no longer an elf? Rave finally noticed what was really bugging her. Everything that had made her an 'elf' was gone. Or changed, altered. What happened? What was she? "Hama, I don't understand--" "That's what I just said!" Hama said. "You don't. You can't. It's against the rules. I shouldn't even be talking to you. I'm a Keeper!" Hama said finally. She suddenly looked worried. "Rave you should go. Forget what I've told you. Forget what you've seen... It won't work. There's too much at stake..." "Hama... I can't go back." "What?" Hama said, this time looking confused. "Why? You'll just wake up." "I was attacked. Or I think I was. I don't really remember. Just darkness and water. Am I dead?" Rave asked. The whole "dying" thing seemed of little importance when she was here. Hama paced back and forth. Rave could tell she was worried. "Damn, Rave. I told you not to follow me. I don't want to get you killed..." she said. So she wasn't dead, Rave noted. "Sleep here. Just close your eyes. I have an idea..." Hama said, as Rave watched her disappear.
"Holy (word not allowed)!" Vempre said, as Hama appeared before them. Joah looked at her wide eyed. "Hama?" Vempre asked. Hama nodded. He reached forward, but his hand passed through her chest. Vempre made a face, jumping back. Hama motioned for them to follow. "What's going on? Can you talk?" Joah asked, as he ran to keep up with Hama. Hama shook her head, motioning for them to follow...

(Which movie ?)
Vempre ran out in front of Hama, stopping, but she just walked through him. "That's amazing!" Vempre called, Joah did not nod, he kept on trying to keep up. "What is she?" "An Illusion, maybe a Ghost. I don't know..." Joah said, trying to see her face from behind. She didn't look like a ghost, they might be able to walk through her, but her appearance was perfectly clear.

Hama moved with silent grace as she flitted through the twisting chambers and halls. Even Joah, who moved with an elf's speed had trouble keeping pace. "Hama!" Vempre cried. "Please! Wait!" he gasped. Hama paused, only for a second before moving on, her face dark.
Joah and Vempre finally caught up with Hama. She'd stopped at the end of the hall. Dead end. "Where'd you bring us?" Joah asked, looking around. "There's nothing here!" he said, angry. Hama looked angry and urgent at him, shaking her head. Frustrated, Hama looked around. She looked at Joah and Vempre, clearly frustrated. How could she tell them? She pointed to the wall. Then standing back, she mouthed 'I'm sorry' to them before disappearing.
Hama looked at Rave as she reappeared in the flowering field. Rave lay still and pale under the tree. Hama reached forward, her hand passing through Rave's arm. She might be too late. It had already begun. If Vempre and Joah didn't find Rave's mortal body, she'd die. Rave already looked dead. Hama sat down next to her old friend and companion. That life seemed so long ago. Rave shouldn't have come. Now the Black Waters would claim Rave. Her conscious being with Hama was already fading....

Joah and Vempre looked at each other. "She's gone!" The Norman boy said. "Oh, really." Joah answered sarcastically and walked over to the wall. "Do you have any idea what she was trying to say?" "She did point at the wall." Vempre replied, standing next to him. "Maybe..." He moved his hand to the grey stone, hoping, that somehow, it would open.

"Hey, Vempre, bring that torch over here..." Joah said, as he felt some interesting groves in the rock. The firelight showed an intricate pattern of ruins and pictures. "Can you read it?" Vempre asked. Joah shook his head. "No, it's not in any language that I recognize..." "Maybe it's not a language..." Vempre suggested. "Then what is it!"

"How should I know!" Vempre answered. "I thought... never-mind." Joah looked back at the wall, touching the letters, hoping something would happen.

"Damnit!" Vempre swore, punching angrily at the rock. Joah stepped forward to stop him. "Vempre! Hurting yourself won't do anything!" he said, trying to grab Vempre's flailing fists. "Get away from me!" Vempre said, caught and overwhelmed with anger and despair. Grabbing Joah, Vempre three a well-aimed punch at his face. Blood flowed freely as Vempre struck Joah's nose. Joah looked more surprised than anything else, as he clutched his probably-broken nose. "What the hell was that for?!?" he gasped, as Vempre's arms fell still be his side. Vempre seemed surprised that he'd hit Joah as well. As the emotions faded, the pain surfaced. He probably broke his hand to add to Joah's nose. "Sorry..." he murmured. "Hey... Look!" Joah said, pointing to the wall. Suddenly the symbols light up. They swirled into elfish. "I can read them!" Joah said. Vempre watched as Joah's face light with amazement. "Vempre, good thing you broke my nose! Blood was the key! And since I'm an elf, the symbols changed to elfish!" "What do they say!" "We just walk through the door..." "What door?!?" Vempre demanded, in a hurry. "Here..." Joah said, confused. Vempre watched as he fell through the stone and hurried after him. Rave was in there and from what they'd gotten from Hama, she didn't have much time.

Vempre hoped that they weren't to late, he was afraid, but proud of himself that he had uncovered the signs, and ashamed at the same time. He ran through the wall, and bumped into Joah at the other side, who had stopped and looked at something. While recovering from catching his fall with both hands, with one broken it hurted a lot, he opened his eyes and saw Rave laying not far away from them. "Rave!" He yelled.

"Vempre, wait!" Joah whispered harshly, though his voice echoed loudly off the stone walls. Vempre stopped. Joah hesitated, afraid perhaps that Vempre would punch him again. "Look!" he said. Vempre did, and it was then that he noticed a wavering of light. Or well no light. The shadows were moving! Rave lay motionless in a large pool of water. Her hair and clothes floated around her. The shadows moved into the water, which was already dark. Rave's eyes were closed, her face peaceful and pale. [like this, i guess XD] It would have been strangely beautiful were there not a life on the line. Vempre stood rooted to the spot. "My great godess..." he said. "What is this?" he said, almost afraid to speak. Joah seemed just as stunned. Without much preamble Joah whispered back, "I think this must be the Dark Waters...." he said. "WHAT? Like that tells me what this is!" Vempre demanded. He yearned to get to Rave, who lay in a water tomb only a few meters away. "I've studied and read enough to know that it's a fatal spell. It... changes you. I... I don't know. We have to get her out of there!" Vempre moved forward. She lay just below the surface. He reached down, but the water was solid! She lay below the unnatural ice! "Joah!" he called, despair in his voice. Whatever this old woman had done, he would kill her for this!

Joah shook his head. "We first need to figure out what happened to her." He said, and walked up to Rave, studying her from a distance. He knelt on the ice, touching it's cold surface. "How's that going to work!" Vempre yelled in anger. "Lets just break the damn thing and get her out!" "Calm down, Vemp. You don't even know if only the first layer is ice, maybe she's completely covered in it."

(you can do what you want and stuff, it's ok. ^_^)
Suddenly Vempre stood up. He saw a flicker of color cross his vision. Joah looked at him. "What?" Vempre frowned, there it was again! Concentrating, everything suddenly became clear. It was a vision of Rave and Hama.
Rave lay in the lush grass. Hama sat next to her, pale and anxious. She kept looking around as if she expected someone or something to sneak upon them. Rave looked like death. Her face was pale, almost blue. She was so still. Hama brushed the hair out of her face. She was murmuring something. Vempre couldn't distinguish it. He strained to hear. "Rave, I know you can't hear me... But I'm so sorry. For everything." Sorry for everything? Vempre thought, confused. Why would that be? He refocused on them, curious and hoping there might be an answer. "If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be in this predicament... I fear that the Dark Waters will claim you... Will it be for the better?" Hama shook her head. "That's what my Elders think. That you're too much of a risk. And with my ties to you, I'm also a risk. You couldn't understand... begin to understand...what's going on. You just charge after me, like the devoted friend you've always been. Perhaps I haven't been strict enough to get through to you. Or perhaps it wouldn't have mattered, because you'd have come no matter what I said or did...." Hama said to the unconscious Rave. "I'm torn. I've always taken your loyalty and kindness for granted in the past. Perhaps I still do. Even when you had been forced into servitude, you managed to grab my heart and make me see. You were a friend there, when I had none... Now, even after you've been reunited with your humans, you still leave to follow me. Do I deserve such friendship? I left you in such misery. I saw the pain on your face; something I will not ever forget in the eternity that I'll live..." Live for an eternity? Vempre shook his head. He wasn't going to learn anything from Hama's confessions, and it made him highly uncomfortable to learn such secrets...
