Mekida spiraled down through the trees, the movement startling a few freshmen. New-bes. Recently joined. She gave a wane smile. The mood was grim, unusual for their Nightly gatherings. It was because this was a meeting and not a regular hang out, party. "Mekida, I've been waiting. You had me worried," Aarold said, walking over towards her. Mekida pushed back her silvery locks of wind-swept hair. "Well prepare yourself...." she said with bitter laugh. She looked around, counting. "Is everyone here?" she asked. "Take a head count. You know that you're better at remembering names than me..." Aarold said with a laugh. Mekida made a light sarcastic noise. "We're still missing a few, but if we're to fit everything in before dawn, we better start. I was late myself. I had to get some... things together."
Ryiah landed, as quietly and as dark as a shadow. She set her cool gaze on the group. She was known for being silent, haunting, but she was known. And was an older member of the NightWatch. (her personality is like opposite Mekida's >.<) She settled herself in an overhanging tree branch, a good seat, so she could make out and hear everything in the clearing....
Mekida moved to a large rock, near the center of the clearing, settling down, backpack in hand. Her wings hovered close to her body. It was very cold, her breath fogging the air...

Aarold opened his wings, the biggest and strongest of them all, since he was the first. He got everyone's attention, like normal. He sighed, closing his eyes, preparing his mind for the words he had to say. He stood on the large rock, Mekida close, Devon even closer." Dear Nightwatch." He started, the whole forest became quiet, deadly quiet." Again, we have found our selves together to discus a matter of great importance. This time even more then last. We have grown the last years, more than I could have ever dreamed off. And with our enormous growth we have drawed the attention of The School..." He pauzed, to catch a breath." I guess you have all got the note, the Nightwatch is discovered, some of us are disappearing. Sadly enough, the people that take in our friends aren't just teachers. Students like us are becoming afraid of us, we are the reason people start to the disappear. But it's that just because they are scared that they will be next. A fight today in the hall has made me clear that Teachers are thinking this situation is getting out of hand, they are so afraid that they do not only take in our friends, but also those who aren't part of the Nightwatch. Something must be done..." He pauzed again, sighed. Made a tear roll down his cheek." And I'm out of ideas to help." He added with a deep voice.

Mekida stepped up, pulling out her laptop. Everyone knew that she was their main source of information. As a skilled hacker, can technological and computer designer, she was the one who usually snagged information. "I managed to hack the system... they've really upgraded, so the information is little, but enough for now.... She opened up her lap, her fingers moving rapidly over the keys. "I have manged to get a portion of the list of names that are under suspicion. There are a number of you... on this list." that brought mummers and horrified whispers to the crowd. "What? Who!" Someone shouted. Mekida held up a hand, waiting for the noise to die. "Some have * next to them. I suppose that's for those who they have higher evidence for... and some have strike marks through them. They are those who've been taken. I'm still looking into what happens to them, but I believe the worst. There are many names. Too long to read. I've brought 10 copies of the list. I must have all ten lists back before you leave. Check to see if your name is on it..." Mekida said, handing out the papers. She turned to Aarold. "I'm afraid of the consequences... I'm not on the list. But those who are? And I got a name. A spy. Hard to get. It's all in binary code..." "Who?" Aarold asked. "I'm not sure exactly... Skiver? Sound familar?"

Aarold nodded." Familiar to me it does, even when I can not remember a lot of names. I think I saw him today, if I'm still able to connect a name with a face. He doesn't look like much of a spy. And you're sure about this?" Mekida nodded, and how could he doubt her. "Any names of Nightwatch that are close to us?" He asked." Am I on it?" He got a little scared, because if he would fail protecting himself, their connection to the Rebellion might break." Or Devon maybe?" Allthough he didn't really want the answer to that question he was determined to ask, and besides that a plan had to be maked in order to protect everyone from the Nightwatch on the list and secure the safty of their organisation, to any cost.
Zachary left his room, on his way to the bed room. There were some kids in the hall way, they didn't look him into his eyes, but stared him on his back. Not that they would find any wings, as that was where they were after. He would like to fly out now, but with all the problems around he didn't want to be a Nigthwatcher and walking into the fact he could be taken away. He just wondered what happened to all those kids that were taken away, and if some were part of the Nightwatch, what the Nightwatch would do to get them back. Maybe even nothing.

Mekida gave Aarold a saddened smile, which made his heart striken. "You, I'm glad to say, were not on the list. But Devon? He has an astrix next to his name.... I didn't have much time to get more information. I'll work more later. But for now, what do you do about this Skiver? He's a threat. And you know what we do to threats."

Mikael and Sam landed just before Aarold began to speak. Sam nodded in agreement to all that their leader said, remembering back to the scuffle he'd seen earlier. Things were getting dangerous. As the papers got passed around, Sam leaned over to Mikael and commented, "I wouldn't be surprised if you are on the list. Your attitude doesn't really help, you know." "This school is trying to repress us and turn us into thinking robots. I like my freedom." he replied. Sam shook his head. "You could at least pretend to be like they want you to be. Draw less attention to yourself." "If I start pretending to be that way, eventually I really will act that way." Mikael retorted.
((Ok, Kyana, I'm still wondering if, in one of your previous posts, when you were looking through names, the Sam you mentioned was my Sam.))

(it doesn't have to be. But if you want it to, then sure. It will be If you want it to be, you can say that you see your name on the list as it's being passed around... If not, then it'll just be a different Sam. Okay? ^_^) Ryiah stepped up. "We should make more of an effort to fight them! Or at least find out more!" "Mekida is trying..." Aarold started, looking up from Mekida's and his whispered conversation. "Yes, but what else can we do? We just sit here and wait for them to find us and take us away! Why not fight?" "Because fighting is wrong. We fight underneath the surface, not directly," Aarold replied. "We should find out where they're going!" Ryiah argued, jumping, and sailing the distance into the center. "We need to battle back. They're taking our freedom! What was the NightWatch really created for? The fight with the Rebels? Why not go now? Why not entirely rebel!" she said, a razor smile on her lips. "Because, patience, effort... disguise!" Mekida argued. Ryiah glared at her. "You're always so patient! Always just waiting, sneaking around. I lost my best friend to them! I best plenty of others are disappearing! Where are they going? We need to find out! Who else can fly? We can and should do so much more than "hang" in the night..."

Aarold shook his head."We would lose if we rebel. We only form a small part of all the children on the School, and they wouldn't just pick our side if we try to take over. Besides, The Nightwatch was created to escape the School, not to destroy it." He looked Ryiah directly in her eyes." I'm sorry for your friend, but I can not risk the life of others, not now we are weakend allready."

Ryiah set her teeth, as she moved back. Oh, she knew what she'd be doing. (mind if I warp some of this a little later? I got an idea... i think >.<)
Mekida looked at Aarold. Ryiah worried her. She was too strong-willed, daring. A risk taker. Only she and Devon know about the anti-pill. It'd take away your wings if taken. And once taken, you could never fly again, even if you had another pill. Aarold along with Mekida had only recently created it. She'd helped with the statistics and engineering part. "Do you think...?" she asked. So far they hadn't used it on anyone. It was the ultimate punishment. But then again, if they did that, that person would probably turn in NightWatch. It was very dangerous. And it was also because Mekida had recently found infromation that the people who took kids away, were inventing a machine of their own. It'd force you to grow your wings if you had any. If kids didn't really have wings, then they'd grabbed the wrong person... "No." Aarold said. "But you know it should stay a possibility..." "Only as a last resort..." Aarold said, before turning to the crowd.

Sam got a copy of the list of names. "You see?" he asked, showing it to Mikael. He'd found Mikael's name. "You've got to cool it sometimes." Mikael frowned down at the list. It did seem to make a difference to see his name there on it. "And I assume you're not?" he asked Sam, annoyed. Sam was scanning through the pages, and shook his head. "No, doesn't look like it." he replied, then passed the list to another Nightwatch. Mikael moved through the crowd until he was closer to where Aarold was, waiting to see what he'd suggest for them.

People were getting restless. Mekida sat with her laptop in her hands. They had to something though. Ryiah was right about that. But what? Should they just sit and wait out the storm? There was another rumor that was circuling. An "Anti-NightWatch". They could fly too... She wasn't going to talk about that here. She'd discuss that with Aarold later.

Aarold knew he had to give everyone some relief, he didn't want to worry them to much. He cleared his troath." I recently talked with the Leader of the Rebelion, and he told me that he is unable to cross into the land of The School. With that we are left alone, I assume that that isn't something you all like to hear, but it could work in our advantage..." He pauzed, then continued after a breath." I've told him to keep trying, so it might catch everyone's attention. That's the least that can be done." He nodded to Devon, who began to collect that lists that Mekida had spread around." I've also just decided that I won't start a rebellion here on school, and he must understand that that isn't the solution to our problems. Something has to be done, but I don't want any rells. And you don't want to lose your friends." He sat down on the rock." If any of you has a good idea, I'll be happy to hear it."

Devon handed all ten sheets back to Mekida, who put that her computer away. Suddenly, she stood up, eyes and ears searching. "Oh no..." she said. "IT'S THE GUARDS! EVERYONE TO THE SKIES!" she screamed, throwing a horrified glance at Aarold, before spreading her wings and leaping skyward. It was too crowed. Screams, cries, branches, feathers, and wings. Too many people trying to fly all at once with branches reaching out at them like claws. Mekida, backpack on tightly, was the first one through the branches. She saw at least fifty running figures with...guns. The School was really pissed. She flew vertical, straight up, out of bullet range. Closing her eyes, she flew on, too afraid to look back, even as the wind bit at her thin sweater.
(hey, I needed to make this more interesting ;D)

( That's what we have you for xD )
Aarold hided himself under his wings, not for to long, only until there was enough space for him to fly up. He knew that guards were on their way, but he rather save the lives of so many Nightwatchers then saving his own. He just hoped that the guards hadn't regonized Medika or Devon, or anyone else. He glared through his wings, to see the guards allready close, holding their guns pointed at those who were left behind. The few that fell down as they tried to escape or were young and weren't yet capable of created wings so fast. Not everyone thought it handy to keep your wings the whole evening. He spread his wings, giving one fast look at all the guns that surrounded him and those left. He needed to escape, saving anyone would certainly not work. And he felt angry with himself for that. He jumped and flew away, in such a speed that bullets were unable to hit him. Allthough it felt like some did. He looked up to the sky, trying to find Medika or Devon.Or even Ryiah for that matter.

( ^_^ yup, what would you do without me?)
Ryiah, unlike the others, didn't fly. She didn't even open her wings. She stayed in the trees, concealed perfectly, watching, smiling. Everything was so... perfect! Ryiah watched as she saw the wounded, or possible dead and captured being tied up, and hauled away. Pity. Only then did she slip away into the darkness. But not on NightWatch wings... But on a different pair...
Mekida hovered, hundreds of feet above the air. It seemed so surreal... peaceful. The moon casting a silvery glow over the land. It made her forget what was really happening below her. Mekida had a sinking feeling. She'd wanted to announce this, but it'd been too late. They'd been interrupted. But it was dire. The School was cracking down on the kids even more. They planed to start with Random Role Call. They could come at any time day or night. You'd have to open your door, and they'd make sure everyone was accounted for. If not... well. You'd have some explaining to do. She'd also found information hinting to Tracking Devices. All students would be implanted with a tracking device. It'd send signals to their computer, so they'd see where'd you been your entire day... She turned to the school. Mekida felt the wind tear at her. They were probably doing role call....

Aarold saw Mekida above him, he spread his wings again. Taking more air beneath his wings to come even further and faster. He grabbed Mekida and brought her further up to the moon. Stopping as he felt they were save." Mekida..." He said, gasping for breath." You got out, good. We have to... warn everyone... I don't want... them to be a.... Nightwatch if they don't... Feel like it." He said, in between breathing. The higher above the less air there was." The School is going to tight up everything." He said in one breath." You can chose... Or you go back, or you join me... for this night only... to pay a visit to the rebels... What do you say?"

Mekida looked back at the school. "That's an ultimatum..." she said. "What?" Aarold asked, confused. "How?" "Because if I go with you, I can't go back. You can't either. The School is doing Role Call. They'll check to see if kids are in their rooms like they should. If you're not there, well then it'll mean trouble.... See?" she sighed. She had everything with her that was really important. Her computer for one. And a large file of information. Was there anything in her room that should never be found? She tried to think.

Devon flew up to Aarold and Medika." Come, we have to go!" He yelled, pointing back at The School. Aarold sighed." You two go. I'll be back before you know it, don't wait for me, I'll see the two of you tomorrow." He said, spreading his wings completely and flying away. He didn't want to get Medika or Devon into trouble, they better lay long since they knew more then anyone else.
Zachary jumped up as someone knocked on his door, he hided his guitar under his bed and ran over to the door. A teacher greeted him, smiling for some reason. "Zachary, boy. Is it okay that we search your room?" Zachary looked suspicious." I ain't a Nitghwatch!" He said. "We have to make sure that that is true. Give me your hand please." The Teacher said, holding out a needle. The boy jumped back, but knew there was no escape, and he had nothing to worry. He wasn't a Nightwatch. "Good." The teacher said, and with that he left, no searching, no yelling. Just him and a needle.

Mekida landed, and flew through the window. She decided to leave her gear packed, computer. She put her slited shirts and clothes into their hidden bag, all her NightWatch gear. her wings disapereded like dust. She closed the window and changed into her pjs. Suddenly the door knocked. She jumped, startled, and nervous. "Hello?" she asked, pretending to be tired, when her heart was pounding in her chest. "We need to search your room..." "What? Why? It's three in the morning. I was sleeping..." Mekida complained. "I'm sorry to disturb you. But we're starting a routine of random role call...." Mekida knew it. If they found anything... "Actually, strike that. A monitor is coming around. He'll check up on you. Okay?" "Yea. Sure..." Mekida said. She closed the door. She only had a few seconds. She took her large backpack pull of NightWatch clothing and equipment, and her valuable laptop and hung it out her window, on a thin cord, dropping it below. The door knocked again. This time Mekida was more confident. "Yes?" "Hi, please give me your arm..." "What? Why? I thought you were only going to search my room..." Mekida said, trying not to panic as she saw the needle-like device in the man's hand. It was the machine that forced your wings out of you! She knew it. Oh dear god... "No. I do not consent," she said. "I never said it was voluntary!" the man growled, angry now, as he stepped into the room. Mekida slammed the door, grabbing a baseball bat, she smashed it over the man's head. He crumpled to the ground. Mekida tried to slow her frantic breathing, listening to see if someone was coming. She looked at the device, and put it in her pocket. She quickly went to through his pockets. She found some papers, which she stuffed in her jacket, a walkie-talkie, which she smashed, and a gun. She'd never shot one, but better take it just in case. She grabbed the extra cartridges too. She heard running footsteps. Best to be gone. She threw on a coat and jumped out the window, grabbing her backpack on the way. "HEY! GET BACK HERE!" she hear them call. Shot fired, but they went wide as she did flips and twirls, trying to get altitude as fast as possible. Suddenly sirens were going off. Spotlights. She flapped her wings harder, faster. She felt as if the wind had stripped her to the bone. She was quickly rising, already hundreds of feet away. But she didn't stop, didn't slow. Mekida just wanted to put as much distance between her and them as possible. What of the others? If they had more of those devices, all of NightWatch would be discovered... Mekida could only hope that she'd find Aarold and the Rebels.

Mikael and Sam had become separated in the mad dash from the forest. As Sam reached clear air, he looked around, trying to spot his friend. He finally saw Mikael down on the ground, and realized he was unable to help his friend. He hovered for a moment, torn, then turned and sped off towards The School. He was hoping to be able to find another Nightwatcher who would have an idea about what to do for their captured comrades. He was so concentrated on his goal, he nearly missed Mekida as she zoomed passed him. Spinning around, he gave chase. "Mekida! Wait up!" he called to her.
During the panicked flight from the forest, some clumsy newbie had darted in front of Mikael, and he'd just managed to avoid a collision, but during the process someone else clipped his head with a wing, knocking him unconscious. He fell to the forest floor. Mikael stirred and groaned. Gaining more conciousness, he became aware of the fact that his hands were tied and his wings bound. He was laying on the ground, and could just see other unfortunate Nightwatchers in a similar predicament nearby.
((I don't really know what is going to happen to the captured Nightwatch, someone want to play the guards so that I'll have something to do/interact with for Mikael? ^_^ I'm trying to find a way to get my characters actually into the story, no more drifting on the edges. That's what I hoped, anyway...))
